Grinder Oil Skimmer
Our standard well proven Floating Weir Skimmer (FWS) can be modified and adapted with grinder pumps that can grind up small soft stuff like leaves, weeds, sticks, algae that are often present in a spill situation in a lake or river or pond or? It’s a regular surface skimmer with very sharp teeth but at the end of the day ike all of our floating weir skimmers, it’s a surface skimmer designed to remove whatever is flowable on the surface of the water.
We have had food manufacturers use the grinder skimmers for choping up some grains, burgers, greaseballs, crackers, nuts, chicken pieces and fat, dogfood and other floating stuff that shows up in their water systems. Paper manufacturers use grinder skimmers for chopping up some cardboard, pulp and paper offal that gets in their water systems. Dairies have used it for moving water loaded with cottage cheese, or curds? And even some plastic shred or scraps. Plastic plants use it for removing plastic grind or floating feed stock plastic pellets that always winds up on the water.
The important thing to keep in mind for these skimmers is that these are not purpose driven for grinding or macerating. These are for getting this stuff off of or out of the water so it can be pumped, moved or sent somewhere else for treatment or reuse or even discharge. It’s not part of their manufacturing process.
The grinders skimmers are simply improving water flow or cleanup of stuff that results from some manufacturing processes. These grinder skimmers are not process equipment, they are self contained skimmer and grinder combination systems for stuff that gets in the water.
We mount the sewage grinder pump right on the skimmer so that the suction is right in the sump area. If the floating junk will flow or can be coaxed into the skimmer and if it’s not made of metal or kryptonite, the grinder pump skimmer can be made to handle it.
This skimmer can be tweaked and scaled up to handle some very big and powerful pumps, by adding additional flotation to keep it afloat. The skimmer operation is the same, we just add an electric or hydraulic sewage grinder pump to handle the solids and junk floating in the water. Flow rates to 200 GPM. Custom and specialty systems can be put together to fit your requirements.
