The Belt Skimmer (TBS)

Belt skimmers lift and remove unwanted floating oils from the surface of water or coolants, in parts washers, pressure spray operations, oil leakage pits, wastewater, and treatment tanks, pits, sumps and wells. These require no pumps. These are selective and give you almost oil only with very little water to deal with.

The Belt skimmers (TBS) are workhorses for smaller oil skimming needs and give you oil recovery rated in GPH or gallons per hour . TBS can be plugged into a timer and/or can be run unattended around the clock. These are almost Idiot or Bubba Proof.

The belt skimmers are selective skimmers — motor driven and work by attracting oil to the surface of the belt — which then is rotated/driven around to the point where the scraper blade shaves or scrapes the oil off the belt — allowing it to gravity drain into your sump or tank or bucket or tote or ?
The belt skimmer (TBS) has to be mounted over the area where oil collects so it can reach down thru the surface and attract the oil. The oil has to touch the belt to work. Most plants have the ability and skilled people that allow them to provide some sort of arm or flange or ?? to clamp or bolt the skimmer onto.

In the world of oil skimming — The Belt Skimmers are probably the most bullet proof and easiest to walk away from and not worry about. The only moving part is the motor driven pulley and the belt that rides on it. It’s drop dead reliable and a very mature technology. It’s hard to screw this one up!

The TBS2 Series is a modern design made to address the ever increasing needs for WASTEWATER APPLICATIONS. It is priced to be affordable, is lightweight, portable and corrosion-proof! Polyurethane or stainless steel belts can reach from a few inches to 20 feet down. The TBS2 accepts 2″ & 4″ wide belts. A timer, ground-fault interrupter, 3 ft. extension hose and handle are included with standard products. Custom units with a “steep trough” side discharge for heavy oils are available as are units for 2″ and larger monitor wells.

MOTOR SPECIFICATIONS:

  • 30 RPM Permanent magnet synchronous motors – the highest level of reliability
  • Amp draw 0.055 (7 watts)
  • Gears and extruded pinion conform to AGMA7 level quality.
  • 115V/1/60Hz is standard (220/1/50 and 220/1/60 also available)
  • 64 oz.-in of torque

FRAME: Stainless steel metal, UHMW polymer ends/scraper blade.
PULLEY: Nylon drive pulley. SS/nylon tail pulley with SS retainer chain. TEMP 120 F. with poly belt, 200 F. with stainless steel belt.
WEIGHT: Ship weight varies from 15 – 30 lbs. depending on options that you choose. All metal is stainless steel and is corrosion-resistant. Collects 1-6 GPH depending on belt width and conditions.

The TBS4V Belt Skimmers are a recent development with a variable speed drive to provide an economical, corrosion-free, wide belt skimmer for central coolant tanks, wastewater and water treatment applications with high collection rates! Use in applications where desired oil collection rate is not known, where incoming oil rate may change, or where oil is needed to be removed faster/slower at different times. ! Simply Turn Knob to Adjust Oil Lift Rate or to dial it in for best recovery. Frame is 10.5″ high x 9″ wide. Length (with motor) varies from 17″ to 31″ with one to four inch wide belts.
